When learning about Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy I learned the definition of a new word, ubiquitous which is all about how learning can occur anywhere not just in the classroom. Manaiakalani supports this through having class sites where students can access their current learning and past learning from the previous weeks, this also creates a rewindable learning experience as students can view what they have done previous weeks to revise, catch up and improve their knowledge.

Today I used a Chrome book to complete the Digital Dig Activity and learned how the students, complete shortcuts such as screenshotting and copying and pasting. It was a great experience for me to use the students chrome books and explore the differences between it and the mac book. This experience will improve my confidence in being able to explicitly teach students on their chrome book.

Additionally, I learned how to use Explain Everything which is a great learning tool that can be used with my students. I then created a google slide with and video of me modelling what I want them to do on Explain Everything.

Furthermore I also learned that on google slides you can make a video on yourself which displays in the corner which is a great way to talk through prompts on slideshows.

Today I learned the importance of being connected within Manaiakalani and I feel the importance of that as a teacher. I think it I fantastic that there is large and diverse range of schools that are apart of the Manaiakalani program and that it values connectedness. This allows us to use the framework of learn, create and share to ensure our teachers have a wide bank of engaging resources to use as they need. Allowing us improve our workflow as teachers.

Looking at other class site I enjoyed viewing the engaging banners and clicking us the relevant buttons that the other classes had used and felt motivated to upgrade mine to engage and suit the topic.

The new button I made on the Inquiry page of the class site takes students to the site that I made last week. Using the button is a more user friendly strategy to access a topic in inquiry. Furthermore as I make more inquiry sites students can click on them too.

My class site is used everyday with my learners and enabling students more easily access their learning with less clicks and engaging banners that motivates them enables us to get them motivated and excited to complete their learning.

Being able to more confidently edit my class site enables me to increase my workflow as a professional as we add students work to the class site weekly.

What another great day today at DFI.

Today we discussed the importance of sharing within the Learn, Create and Share pedagogy and I am super excited to get my students to write blogs because it is so important for them to have an audience when they complete work. Hopefully whanau get involved and at SLC I can show them how they can view and comment on their tamarikis work.

Today I learned how to create a google form for all students who are moving into the new build and enjoyed personalising it. The form will give us a better understanding of how students feel moving into the new build. I will be using Google forms a lot. I Love it.

I then learned how to use my maps and created a road trip which I may complete over summer. I am excited to get my students to explore my maps and create their own road trip too.

We then went into a deep dive using google sheets where I learned how to freeze an area, seperate first and last names into different columns and quickly find sums and averages using the equation tools.  This will improve my capability of sorting out data from edge into an easy to read format which enables me to group my students for cross grouping which will then be embedded into our PODS planning.

Lastly we used google sheets to sort data into graphs which I know my students will love doing when we teach statistics.

Hi! my name is Sanaa. Yesterday, we had our big day in Waka Ahukura. We had 2 bouncy castles, a bounce war fight,a water slide and a slip n slide. At the slip n slide I fell and did the splits. It was so embarrassing for me. I had a lot of fun and love to spend time with my friends. Later, we had pizza and fizzy drinks with fries.Then, we went to play for 1 hour and then it was home time. Bye for now.

hi my name is Tui and I am going to talk about yesterday and yesterday was the 12th of December . and it was senior big day and my favourite thing is the water slide and there where soap so that it is slippery. and on the slide there was a water hose so that we can slide fast. and we had pizza and France fries and i was full and went back to the water slide and there where bouncy castles and i like the spider man bouncy castle because it had not that much people in there and my friends where in there is well. and my friends is name is Jethmi and Prithisha and Sanaa. ok bye for now.

Malo,namaste,bonjor and all warm greetings to you all. Today, I will be talking about the Waka Ahukura’s fun day. We had bouncy castles and water slides. It was verey fun and cool to play with my friends on the bouncy castles. But it was kinda not fun for me any more because a boy in room 2 was fighting with me. He jumped on me on purpose then I said, ”what’s your problem?”  Then he said, ”Do you want a blow up?” and I said, ”whats a blow up?” and he said, ” A punch!” then I said,” no!” So, I replied back to him but I didn’t punch him. Then he scracthed my foot and after he went up the slide.  I  pushed him down, after he came back up he pulled me down the slide and also pulled my hair and kicked my eyes. After, he left . It was sore so I told the teacther and we both said sorry to each other . It was worth it because we had to get in a group of ten so we all could get some fizzey drinks, hot chips and pizzas. •   We had 2 bouncy castles that were dry and 2 water slides. We had some hot chips , drinks and pizzas. When I went to the water slide, I was walking very fast. I slipped and  fell down. It was too cold.  So, I  went  in the dry bouncy castles. After that, I was thirsty and I went to get a drink. Then we had to pack up. The teacher said students who get the most rubbish get a drink but I didn’t get one because I lost. Then, I went to get change and the teacher gave the winners the drink.

Hello! today , we will be talking about The Big day in Waka Ahurkura.Yesterday, was so fun. We had alot of fun time on the bouncy castles. Also, the food was so amazing (pizza, hot chips and drinks). It was raining but later on it was sunny. We went on the water slides/bouncy the whole day. We all were  just having fun outside and eating altogether. I enjoyed that day so much.  I  had so much fun with my friends. my friends enjoyed it aswell!. The whole waka ahurkura took a group photo altogether. The bouncy castles were packed but we still went on all of them. My favourite one was the big slide one. I didn’t like the wet ones because it was so cold and  windy. We went to camp for the first time and it was so fun,

When we got there it was so big and they even had campaign and it was the first night we slept.

The next day we had to go to the hall to go say our karakia and sang a himene then ate breakfast.

Then we got to go in group and then we got to go try the hydroslide for the first time.

We went to the hall and ate lunch then went to go change into my pajama then went to sleep.

Bula vinaka my name is pritisha today i am going to share what i have been doing at the christian youth camp. on the first day we had to change into our swimming togs and then everyone met at the beautiful grass field we had ours groups so we had to rotate in our group so i was in group 7 so our first activity was we did some solving at the grass field and we solved some puzzles and then the bell rang then we sat in our groups to get a teacher then we got mrs ganesh and mr wallace then we got up and we went to the crate climbing and maria the girl who was in our group got the most crates and i was second for crate climbing and i am happy about that.after that we went to rock climbing  it was so easy i touched all the hands.then we went to target shooting it was kinda fun but i was scared but i did it i was so proud of my self after that we went mudslide i was so so excited for mudslide because wheae tracey was there my favorite teacher in the whole wide world it was so fun at the mud slide the slide went sooo fast i loved it and some people got stuck on the slide because of there clothes no offesive but they should have worn swimming togs but we had soo much fun after mudslide we went to the pools at 4:30 then everyone was there then i met with my friends in the cold pool like vivian sanaa luisa rosena pj tui and then we played around and then matua tuli pushed me in the pool but it was funn and then after at 5:50 we got told we get out of the pool and go shower and change for dinner so after we went shower change and we went to the hall to get our dinner and we ate nachos for dinner and then we went to our cabins and had fun after 1 hour it was bed time and we kept laughing and vivian was making so  much noise that she got kicked out to sleep with the teachers and then we were in our cabins and we bulided a tent and then we put our pillows and and our sleeping bags on the ground and went to  sleep. thats all for today

AT camp my favourite things were the pool,the warm pool that you to wait to get into which was kinda not wroth it and the flying fox (you go over a lake not a small one a big big lake)And the one where you shoot with guns,its easy to shoot and i think i am the best in the world oh in the big lake you can swim its so deep and fun, the rock climbing is sooooooooooooooooooooooooo easyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy so that is my favourite thing at CYC.

Camp was a fun and enjoyable experience that helped me learn how to be confident and brave.

I am glad I had the opportunity to go to CYC and have a fun time with my friends.

My Experience at camp

Fakalofa lahi atu today i am going to share a story with you about what i did on my school trip to camp!

On Monday 13th November  the year 6 & 5 got to go to a campsite called Christian Youth Camp Ngaruawahia for 3 days. 

Once we arrived we unloaded our luggage and began to take it to our assigned cabins. We all had to change into our swimwear and walk to our assigned groups where our group leader was standing. Everyone rushed to their group and all groups went to play some fun games before we all went to our activities.

Once the teachers announced its time to pack away the equipment we were playing with we had to line up behind our R.A and follow him/her to our first activity my group’s first activity was Archery Daniel taught us  how to load an arrow into the bow and how to shoot the arrow once we finished we moved on to raft building with Matua.T the girls finished their raft easily while the boys on the other hand were struggling to put together theirs. 

Matua Tuli walked away ringing the bell while he was ringing the bell all of the 10 groups were walking to their next activity. Me and my group took our life jackets off and hung them up before leaving once everyone finished hanging up our life jackets over the fence we all started to make our way to the hydro slide where Whaea Krystal would explain how we go down the slide safely i went down the slide with my friend Rovanali we both screamed because the water was super cold a few minutes later we all had to quickly get changed for dinner we’ll finished eating and we all went on our to change into our swimwear again to go swim in the pool once we got to the pool there was a very long line for the hot pool and everyone only got 3 minutes in the hot pool so everyone could have a turn.

After everyone got changed into their pjs they all went to brush their teeth and then go to bed the next after everyone woke up we all went to brush our teeth and go eat breakfast after we ate breakfast we all got changed into our togs to go to our activities my group went kayaking while we were kayaking a boy Joseph fell off his kayak and thought he was going to drown so Araisa and Monica had to go save him since they were the closest after kayaking we went to the target shooting when we got there the man taught us how to reload the riffle and how to shoot the riffle after we finished doing the target shooting we went to the mudslide with Whaea Tracey we while some of us we’re going down it started to rain so we all started to walk to the pool and chill there before we go had to go eat dinner we all got changed and went to go eat dinner after we ate dinner we all went to go change into our pjs and brushed out teeth to go to bed.

The next day everyone started to pack and load our luggage into the bus before we left. We all ate burgers and left on our journey back to school once we got back everyone grabbed their stuff and went home.
