HALS – Healthy Active Learning at School (Room 12)

Today at ten o’clock room 12 did a programme called HALS. “HALS” Is short for “Healthy, Active, Learning at School.” It’s basically a programme where all students participate in friendly, healthy games that help strengthen physicalness, team work, engagement and skills.

Today we played two games. The first one was called “Tails” and the second “Bench.” Tails was a fun game where two equal teams have 1 tag per person. Both teams would try to take the opposing teams tags. The team with the most tags wins. We also played different variations of the game. For example we first started playing full court but then made the space we can play to only half the court. It was really fun. For me it was 8/10.

Bench was a very fun game similar to netball. On to decently far away from each other side there were two people on the benches for each team (2 teams) they were basically the goal for the people not on the benches. Each team would try to pass the ball to people on the benches; and if they did would be on the benches as well. You also could not move with the ball if you were holding it so the only way to advance to you bench was my passing and using teamwork to move forward and win. The first to have all their people or have the most people on their benches would win. It was very fun and for me and personally it was a 10/10

Aroha’s Story – Mitey

Task Description

We have been doing Mitey recently and have been following along with Aroha’s story.

Aroha is a young girl who faces the realistic emotions that we feel in our daily lives varying from happiness to anger.

We learned about an invisible string that brings people together or more so, people who love each other.

Here is my opinion on the invisible string and how it connects us

The Invisible String of Love

The concept of the invisible string is a truly beautiful and powerful one. It represents the unbreakable bond between people who love each other deeply, no matter where they are or what they’re doing. This thread of love may be invisible to the naked eye, but it is felt deep in our hearts, giving us a sense of comfort and security even in the most challenging times.

The invisible string serves as a lifeline, connecting us to the people who matter most in our lives. It is a symbol of the enduring ties that bind us to those we love, and it reminds us that distance cannot diminish the strength of our connection. This invisible thread is a constant source of comfort and support to those who hold a special place in our hearts, and it is a reminder that we are never truly alone.

Whether we are separated by miles or circumstances, the invisible string remains unbroken, always connecting us to the people we love. It is a powerful reminder that things may change, but the love we share with those important to us endures, and it is always present to support us in times of joy and sorrow. The invisible string is a testament to the power of love and the unbreakable bonds that connect us to those who matter most.

Showed in the story, Aroha suffered from anxiety that tried taking over her, but in the story, we can see her surrounded by her friends who helped her out. How did the people around her help her mental well-being?

Anxiety is a powerful emotion that can sometimes feel overwhelming and all-consuming. It can make us feel isolated and alone, as if we are the only ones struggling with these feelings. But it’s important to remember that we are never truly alone. The people who love us are always there to support us, even when we’re feeling anxious or overwhelmed.

When anxiety tries to take over, it can be tempting to retreat from the world and isolate ourselves. But this is precisely the time when we need to reach out to our loved ones the most. They can provide a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, or simply a comforting presence that reminds us that we are not alone.

It’s important to remember that anxiety is not a sign of weakness or failure. It’s a natural response to stress and uncertainty, and it affects millions of people around the world. The more we talk about our experiences with anxiety, the more we can break down the stigma and shame that often surrounds it.

So if you’re struggling with anxiety, like Aroha, know that you are not alone. There are people in your life who love you and want to support you through this difficult time. Lean on them, and don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. Together, we can overcome anxiety and find a sense of peace and calm in our lives.

This is my opinion

Thank you, Zuri :)))

HCF -Maths

What is HCF? HCF stands for ‘Highest common factor.’ A factor is a smaller number that you use to multiply other numbers. Don’t get it confused with Least common multiple, which means you have to list the multiples, eg 6, 12, 18, 24, 30.

For example, what is the HCF of 12 and 18?

12 {1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12}

18 {1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 18}

A common factor means a factor that appears in both numbers. But we want the highest common factor, which is 6. Therefore, the HCF of 12 and 18 is 6.

Cybersmart Challenge – Bookmarks

Task Description:

For Cybersmart, we had to bookmark a few important sites that we may use in our daily school life. For example, our blog, our class site, our Gmail, etc.  This lesson teaches us to make things easier and more efficient. With sites that we visit daily just one click away instead of many clicks, we can save way more time and get on with our learning! Learning to bookmark actually broadens our knowledge even more and helps us with our tech knowledge which is a valid part of the world today.

Here are my bookmarks

Phones must be banned in school

Phones must be banned in school

-Phones should not be used in schools because it is a learning area not a hang out area with phones so i am agreeing with the government on this decision

Distraction, Cheating

I think phones should be banned in schools because it could be a distraction in learning and in test times they could also be cheating in the exams using google calculator and much more. This is part of a global way over more than a decade to restrict phone use in schools. New zealand governments say banning mobile phones will reduce distractions in class, allow students to focus on learning, improve student wellbeing and people have agreed too banning phones.

Cyberbully Respect

Cyberbullying is bad because it is not a good way too show integrity when some one is talking and your not paying attention.  respect means to demonstrate high regard for or special attention to something or someone. Most likely not looking at your phones.

The lack of attention and stealing

With phones in schools, not only can they do what they want but teachers can’t access their phones like chromebook. After people start bringing their phones other people will start bringing  their phone to school and the more people with phones the less learning there is and more distraction. Why phones should be banned in schools. Is because they could attract the attention of people and make them steal their phones. That could be because of negativity around the whole school and more phones could go missing.

Conclusion

As we wrote this text we were agreeing more and more to the government  on why it should be banned in schools to tackle classroom disruption, improve learning and help protect children from cyberbullying and also others like theft, respect & agreement.

Hals activities

Today Room 11 was doing Hals activities with Mrs Dimond. We played two games, the first game we played was Team Tail Tag, the game Team Tail Tag we got spilt into two teams one team was nonbibs and the other team was bibs we both also got given tags, the teams had to try rip the opposite team tags off and put it with there tags at the end of the game the teams had to get together and had to count all the the tags they got and whichever team got the most tags wins. The second game we played was bench ball, Bench ball was basically netball but instead of shooting it in the net you have to throw to your teammate thats on the bench, if they catch the ball you can join them by going on the bench but if the ball falls on the ground it doesn’t count. At first it was easy but it started to get harder cause we added two balls and in the game. I had fun playing these activities because it was my first time playing the games.

HALS With Mrs Diamond By Liana

Report: Today at 11:00 after morning tea, room 11 joined Mrs Diamond in a HALS session. We played 2 games, Bench ball and Team tail tag, both games included running and a bit of pivoting but that wasn’t the focus of the lesson. In both games we learned how to communicate better, become more familiar with our surroundings, strategize, teamwork, and more. Overall I personally think that the lesson was good way to get everyone working together and getting our blood pumping.

HAL’s Activity

Today Room 11 have learnt a couple of new fun activities with the lovely Mrs Diamond. Our first game Mrs Diamond taught was called “Tails”. For this game you need spilt into two teams. One team with bibs and the opposite with non. We all also needed a Tag each to stick onto our backs and try to get each others tags. The most team with the most tags would win the game.

Our second game is called bench ball. For this game you are also split into two teams. This game is similar to netball but there are two people at each end of the court which was called bench. Each team have to pass the ball to their teammates at the end of the court. If your benched teammates drop the ball it would then be handed to the opposite team. But if your benched teammates catch the ball then we also get benched. The team with the most benched people would then win the round.

HAL’S Physical Education

Today Room 11 got an amazing opportunity to go outside for 45 minutes learning about Sports Skill. Mrs Dimond was our amazing coach. Our main learning activity was learning how to collaborate. It was so much fun. Our first game of the session was Team Tail Tag. We had to rip the tag off the opponents waist. It was so much fun, running around and dodging. Our second game was Bench Ball. It was basically like netball but instead, there were 2 imaginary benches on each side of the court. We then had 2 people guarding the benches. We had to throw the ball to the guards of the bench. If they catch we become one of them. In my opinion it was so much fun being able to be in a team with people I don’t usually talk too. Mrs Dimond was the best at coaching !

TH3 4NZ4C W4R !

Anzac War!
They arrived at Gallipoli on the 25th of April 1915. The war was between the British, Aussie, New zealanders & French vs the Germans, Turkish & Austrians. They all arrived on a boat, you’re probably thinking, “ Oh! That’s not even that bad!” No! They actually got dropped off far away fr0m the island they actually were supposed to be on. They had to walk all the way through the cold water to the actual Island! Then when they got on the Island, bullets and grenades were flying over their heads and before they even stepped on the land, some even died. I just know they must have been super nervous and shaky to fight.
