Narrative Writing Week 7

Hey Everyone! Here is my narrative writing for this week, hope you enjoy it!

The harsh smoke filled my lungs and my heart was pounding out of my chest. I grabbed Lily’s hand, “Quick! Get outside and find your dad” I told her. I made sure the cats got outside before I did. It was cold outside and I was gasping for air. I reached for my phone in my pocket, uh oh, I left it inside. I had to sprint back into the flames engulfing my home. My legs were shaking and my hands were numb. I reached for my phone sitting on the marble benchtop but it was too late, my legs went weak and collapsed onto the hard cold ground…

The fire

Fire appears everywhere. Surrounding the area like a heated school fight. Smelling the fumes of the fire gives me nausea. Thinking about fire makes my skin crawl. As the fire climbed the building it started spreading too much. We put it out but it was getting too hard to put out. In the end, it was put out.

week 7 Opening paragraphs

this is my opening paragraph for this week, hope it’s good!

The wind only made the flames bigger as they consumed everything in their way. The firefighters were calling commands and running back and forth trying their best to clear the fire. I just stood on a patch of grass across the road looking at what used to be my home. Tears filled my eyes, a home full of memories and love was all gone in a matter of seconds, and there was nothing I could do.

the Fire full of Hatred

The fire full of hatred

The fire was reflecting to my eyes it was now spreading like hatred I didn’t know what to do this was my first time being a firefighter but luckily my senior friend Jerome was there. He grabbed a pipe and it unleashed soaking water now choking the fire out it was on till the fire turned into thin air. I felt powerful because it went out but now I felt lazy I did nothing but watched the hatred spread.

Hook: The fire

The Fire

By Noah

The fire raged like crazy, twisting and turning as it gobbled up everything in its way. Firefighters were going all out, risking it all to stop the blaze. But in the midst of the chaos, this one person stepped up. His eyes locked onto the flames, and he wasn’t backing down. As the fire roared louder, so did his determination. Little did he know, he was about to dive headfirst into a wild journey, uncovering not just the fire’s secrets, but a whole lot more.

Hooking The Reader In

As the fire spread I could hear children screaming, dogs yelping and the loudest of all parents weeping. I was struggling to put out the fire because I couldn’t take my mind of all the other noise. I wish I could just disappear but people needed me I had to be brave and help those who were in need.

We might not even do a science fair project

We were flying around the RC plane and we had to fly it again before adding the wing extensions. And it was kind of windy. And we had to fly it between two buildings. And guess where it ended up. Yes on the roof. But we got it back, but there’s a catch there were two propellers originally and there was only one left on the plane. But Mrs Gharat is going to try to find a propeller that looks the same as the one that got lost. Even if we do that we will have to rush the results part. We might now even get to do the stand thing.

science fair update

so we can’t do the jet engine we have decided that we would do ours around an RC jet plane and modify it so it can fly more fluently and do tricks and glide further and maybe if we have time make a working landing gear unlike the one it came with and that is what well do for the science fair

The Fox and the mouse

The snow was deflating underneath the foxes and the mouse’s feet. Then I heard ice cracking, split straight through the middle. There I go under right into the water. Sinking to the bottom I seen a giant fluffy red foxy dude coming down to help me. Once the fox push me to the top I ran I looked back for a sec and the fox wasn’t there i went to the edge and it was going down. I got circled around with owl next minute I had a tail around me growl i heard and the owl flew away.

The Science Fair Setback: Why a Homemade Jet Engine Wasn’t in the Cards

The anticipation of a science fair can be both exhilarating and nerve-wracking. For months, you plan and prepare your project, eager to impress judges and fellow students with your innovative ideas and experiments. In my case, I was determined to build a homemade jet engine to demonstrate my engineering prowess. However, as I embarked on this ambitious journey, reality quickly set in, and I realized that a homemade jet engine wasn’t a feasible option. But, as they say, when one door closes, another one opens. In this blog post, I’ll share the story of how my grand jet engine project took an unexpected turn, leading me to explore the fascinating world of wing lift using a foam RC plane.

Dreaming Big: The Homemade Jet Engine Project

My fascination with aviation and engineering led me to the idea of building a homemade jet engine for the upcoming science fair. I envisioned a roaring turbine, blue flames, and a sleek, miniature jet engine that would undoubtedly make jaws drop. The idea was nothing short of ambitious, and I couldn’t wait to get started.

The Initial Challenges

As I delved into research and started gathering materials, it became evident that creating a homemade jet engine was an intricate and complex endeavor. Here are some of the challenges I encountered:

  1. High Costs: Building a functional jet engine requires specialized materials, including high-temperature alloys, compressors, and turbines. The costs quickly spiraled beyond my modest budget.
  2. Safety Concerns: Working with jet fuel, high-speed turbines, and extreme temperatures raised significant safety concerns. Ensuring the safety of myself and those around me became a paramount issue.
  3. Expertise and Time: I soon realized that building a jet engine demanded a level of expertise and experience far beyond my current knowledge. The learning curve was steep, and time was running out.

The Turning Point: Exploring Wing Lift on a Foam RC Plane

With the jet engine project appearing increasingly unattainable, I faced a pivotal decision: either abandon the science fair or pivot to a more manageable yet equally intriguing experiment. I chose the latter. Inspired by the concept of aviation, I decided to explore wing lift using a foam RC (Radio-Controlled) plane.

Wing Lift Experiment: A New Horizon

  1. Materials: Unlike the jet engine project, the wing lift experiment required affordable and easily accessible materials. I obtained a foam RC plane kit, which included all the components necessary for the experiment.
  2. Safety: The safety risks were significantly lower, as the RC plane operated on battery power, eliminating the need for dangerous fuels or high-temperature components.
  3. Learning Opportunity: While the project’s scope had changed, I found myself learning a great deal about aerodynamics, lift, and the principles of flight. Understanding how wing design affects lift was a fascinating journey.
  4. Accessibility: The foam RC plane project became an interactive and engaging exhibit for the science fair. It allowed for hands-on demonstrations and encouraged visitors to explore the world of aviation.

Conclusion

While my initial dreams of building a homemade jet engine for the science fair did not materialize, I learned a valuable lesson in adaptability and the importance of setting realistic goals. My journey took an unexpected yet rewarding turn as I explored wing lift using a foam RC plane. The experience not only broadened my understanding of aviation but also made for a fascinating and accessible project that captivated the interest of both judges and spectators.

In the end, I realized that science fairs aren’t just about the end result but also about the journey of discovery, innovation, and the willingness to adapt when challenges arise. My foam RC plane project taught me that sometimes, the best projects are the ones that lead you down an unexpected path, where you discover something new and exciting. So, if you find yourself facing setbacks or obstacles in your science fair project, remember that it’s all part of the scientific process, and it might just lead you to an even more captivating exploration.
